Editorial Policy
This policy describes how Suviy selects, presents, and labels news content. It exists to be transparent with our readers and the publishers whose content we aggregate, and to satisfy the editorial-transparency requirements of mobile app stores (notably Google Play's News & Magazine programme).
1. What Suviy is — and is not
Suviy is a news aggregator. We collect publicly available headlines from third-party publishers and link readers to the original article on the publisher's website. We are not a news publisher and we do not have an in-house editorial staff.
We do not write, rewrite, or alter the substance of any article. We do not change or comment on a publisher's editorial line. The list of sources we currently aggregate is at https://api.suviy.app/legal/sources.
2. Operator and editorial independence
Suviy is operated by an independent developer based in Ukraine. There is no parent company, no shareholders, no political or commercial sponsorship. The service is currently free to use and not monetized; if that changes (for example, with a paid tier or advertising) we will update this section before any change takes effect.
3. How sources are selected
Sources are added based on a combination of factors:
- The source publishes a public RSS feed or has an API we can use lawfully.
- The source's terms of use permit headline-and-link aggregation by third parties.
- Geographic and language coverage that complements our existing source list.
- Operational signals (the feed parses cleanly, content is not paywalled in a way that breaks linking).
We do not select or de-select sources based on their political stance, ideology, or business model. Publishers wishing to opt out can write to legal@suviy.app at any time.
4. How the feed is ranked
The order in which articles appear in the feed is determined algorithmically, not by editorial choice. The algorithm blends:
- Personalized signals from your in-app preferences and reading history (categories you follow, sources you subscribe to, your focus country).
- Recency and engagement signals across the wider user base (trending topics, fresh articles).
- Diversity constraints to avoid any single source or topic dominating the feed.
Anonymous (not signed-in) users see a non-personalized blend of recent articles instead.
5. AI-generated content
Suviy can generate article summaries and translations using a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI). When AI is involved, this is clearly labelled in the app. AI outputs may contain errors and are not a substitute for the original article; the canonical version is always the one published by the source. We do not use AI to generate or alter article bodies — only the summary or translation that you explicitly request.
AI features are subject to per-user usage quotas. Where required by app-store rules (notably Apple's guideline 5.1.2(i)), we obtain your explicit consent in the app before sending article content to the AI provider for the first time.
6. How we display articles, and content removal on request
For each aggregated article we display the source name, headline, an extract, and a link to the original. When the source's public feed (RSS or equivalent) publishes the full article body, we display that body inside the app for reading convenience. We do this under a good-faith assumption that publication of the body in a public feed implies a licence to display it to feed consumers; we acknowledge that some publishers may disagree.
Publishers who do not consent to display of the article body — or who notice an issue with how their content is presented (incorrect headline, source attribution, image, or other element) — should write to legal@suviy.app. We respond within 7 days and apply a correction or content takedown within 14 days. Takedown requests are honoured at any granularity: a single article, a category of content from a source, or all of a source's content.
Because we link to the source for every article, the most reliable correction path for content errors is at the source. If a publisher corrects or retracts an article on their site, our link continues to point at that updated version.
7. User-generated content (comments)
Comments and reactions are written by users, not by Suviy. We moderate user content reactively — that is, we act on flags from other users or publishers rather than reviewing every comment before it goes live. Content that violates our Terms of Service may be removed without prior notice.
8. Funding and conflicts of interest
Suviy is currently funded by the operator's own time. We have no advertising, no paid placement of articles or sources, and no relationships with publishers that could influence ranking. If that changes (for example, with an advertising tier), we will update this page in advance and the labelling of any sponsored content will be clear and unambiguous.
